The most simple way to build your very own list is to give something free in return for the visitors name and email address.

Now, you have to be very careful how you use your list once it starts growing. You definitely never ever ever want to spam your list as you will have a bunch of unhappy customers who will ultimately never buy and thing from you or anything you recommend and all of your emails will end up in the deleted box!

You’ve seen those websites that have a couple of boxes for you to put your details in and a submit button right… well, if you’re anything like me, you don’t have the first clue about “html” code or any of that geeky internet stuff and you still want the same outcome as those who do! Hmm!

There is a free solution! It’s called MailChimp and I have been using it this year to learn more about creating, growing and maintaining my very own internet list.

Here’s what I recommend you do right now… click here and register for a free account and have a play around with it. It’s all pretty simple and you don’t have to do any of that html code stuff at all – it’s all WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) and I love it.

And yes, it’s all 100% on auto-pilot which means my list is being build 24/7 and yours can too.

There is a small cost once you get into it… and I mean small! You’ll need to buy some email credits and they’re dirt cheap – as in $30 for 1000 emails.

Have fun with MailChimp. It’s incredible that it’s free to use – I have seen software programs selling for well over $600! + a per email cost and extra for tracking clicks, opens and unsubscribes!

PS You can set MailChimp to email you every time someone submits their detail which means you can see your list building everyday!

What this means is that it is imperative that you have people continuously clicking on your information and reading it. Let me share with you one of the easiest and definitely most cost effective way of inviting people to have a look at what you have on offer.

Forums are a place where people discuss all sorts of topics. There are literally millions and millions of “Forums” on the internet. So, let’s say, for instance, you are wanting to make some money from promoting the World Internet Summit… perhaps you think that the most likely people to attend this event are people who are

a/ Interested in Making more Money
b/ Entrepreneurial
c/ Self Motivated
d/ or Have attended other similar events

So, you need to find a forum that has discussions on topics that these people are interested in. Now, you begin participating in the discussions and hidden in your signature, is a link to the World Internet Summit.

Now… there are a few ground rules.

1/ Make sure you add value to the discussion – give the readers something interesting to read
2/ Don’t write “See my website below” - people will just click it on their own
3/ Post consistently. Don’t just write 3 posts and expects 500 clicks on your site – write 3 per week.
4/ Always put your name as well – not just a link to your affiliate page

I use this technique all the time. It’s easy for me because, as you can tell from this blog, I enjoy sharing my information with people all the time.

If you are selling a book on walking dogs – go to www.google.com and search “Dog Forum” and I am sure you will find something… The same goes for any topic or market.

You see, it’s no where near as difficult as you think it is to have a pretty fancy looking web page where you can write what ever you want, make it any colour you want and even sell whatever you want to from it! Upload photos, write a daily blog, do reviews and make recommnedations – even just have somewhere to keep in touch with all of your friends, family & colleagues from all around the world! Free & Easy!

OPTION ONE – www.blogger.com

Blogger.com is really really easy to have your first crack and a website or blog. Infact, Blogger.com is where I wrote my very first web page – ever and I highly recommend you have a go yourself. Their Simple “1..2..3… ” step process is exactly that – Simple!

OPTION TWO – www.wordpress.com

WordPress is the very website where I log in and update this website. That’s right, you’re looking at what WordPress is all about!

Again, it is very very easy to register and get started – there are more than enough “templates” for you to choose from. You can even choose to have the same one as me!

I have personally found WordPress to be a little more advanced than Blogger.com and do both have their pros & cons. Nothing major to stop you using either one to get your feet wet and that is what this post is all about – giving you the free links so you can start making money on the internet.

I always hunt out free or really really really cheap resources and tools before paying for them because free is good right!?

You do “Get what you pay for” so to speak and that is absolutely fine when you are trying out a new idea, giving something a crack to see what happens and testing & measuring the unknown.

Over the next couple of blogs, I am going to share with you the free resources I use and you can too!

So… I am going to share with you the tool I use to collect names & emails (opt in list), send personalised, customised, ad-free emails to my list and get instant stats on how many people opened their email, how many clicked on the different links within the email, how many unsubscribed and so on. Also, I will share with you two ways you can create your own website or blog, just like this one, 100% free and it will take you less than 10mins to be live and into it. None of that damn html “<p></p>” stuff either!!

I am sure, like me, you want to make some money from the internet right? Well, I will give you an introduction to “Affiliate Marketing” - something I have had a play around with and now make a few hundred dollars each month (I am looking forward to making that a few thousand dollars each month after the World Internet Summit) and you can easily do it too. It’s all free so you have absolutely nothing to lose!

The first free resource I am going to share with you is one you probaly already know of. It’s called YouTube and is a fantastic resource for marketing yourself, your website, your products and services to literally millions and millions of people 24/7!

What makes YouTube even better is that you can put the videos on your website and use them to market and sell directly to your target market – the visitors to your website.

There you go, I enourage you to make a small (say 30sec – 2min) video using a basic webcam and load it on to YouTube.

Oh! You can edit your video – give it a fancy intro and even some background music – absolutely free using Windows Movie Maker which comes as part of the software package 95% of you have on your computer now.
